“If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, “Let Israel now say— “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us, then they would have swallowed us alive, when their wrath was kindled against us; Then the waters would have overwhelmed us, the stream would have gone over our soul; Then the swollen waters would have gone over our soul.” Blessed be the Lord, who has not given us as prey to their teeth. Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; The snare is broken, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth” (Psalm 124 NKJV).
Do you feel that people attack you at the most convenient times? I mean, when you feel the most positive about life, people want to say something to steal your shine. For instance, I could be encouraging people and really feeling confident about fulfilling my purpose in life and feeling good about who I am in Christ. All of a sudden someone will come and say something about my past; or when I’m feeling good about my singleness and waiting on God someone from my past will call me. One thing I have learned over the years is; the enemy will study you and learn all of your weaknesses so that he can present them at times you are the most vulnerable.
In order not to fall prey to the enemy and his evil tactics, you must stay before God in prayer. Be aware of the enemy’s devices. His job is to steal, kill, and destroy. What is the best way the enemy gets you to fall prey to his evil works? Through the mind. If you notice, when the enemy is about to attack, he works his way in through your mind. We have heard so many in ministry say this and that is because it holds true. It can be as simple as a thought of doubt; thinking that God is not hearing your prayers. As soon as doubt starts to sink in you have become prey to the enemy. He tries to get you so distracted by your depression, doubt, feelings of unworthiness, anger and rage so that you jeopardize what God has for you and when your blessings come you do not even notice them.
Prayer is how we communicate with God and build a closer relationship with Him. We know that He answers prayers, but are you seeking His face only when you are in dire need of something? The Bible states, “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17 NJKV). You never know when the enemy is going to strike, therefore you need to be on guard at all times; prayerful and in the word of God. No soldier is at ease while on the battlefield. I think at times we forget how powerful prayer really is or maybe it is the mere fact that we doubt the power of prayer, therefore, we just do not pray. Before Nehemiah left to go rebuild the wall, he went to God in prayer and by fasting. I think of prayer as a preventive measure. If you stay prayed up; when you are faced with your past, you will not be distracted from what is to come. Do not wait until you have become prey to pray!
Faith it until you make it, Hope for the best, Love God and yourself with every fiber of your being!
