The dictionary defines breakthrough as “an instance of achieving success in a particular sphere or activity.” When I hear the word breakthrough, I think about all the times I almost gave up and God showed up. I think about Ruth being in position to be found by Boaz, a King. I think about Job being tried and tested and how he never gave up on God and was blessed with greater in the end. I think about the woman with the issue of blood, who knew if she made it to Jesus she would be healed (Luke 8:43-48). When I think about breakthrough, I think about the woman that was bent over for 18 years and was instantly healed when Jesus said, come to me (Luke 13:10-17). I think about the lame man who could not make it to the pool in time (John 5:1-18) and lastly, I think about the Samaritan woman at the well (John 4). All of these people received a breakthrough. The key to their breakthrough was their level of faith!
When you ask God for a breakthrough, you must go to the Father in faith! “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened (Matthew 7:7-8 NKJV).” The difference between a break-in and a breakthrough is this; when you break-in to something, you have done it by force and most likely out of the will of God. In other words, it is stolen and does not belong to you. When you breakthrough something, it is an achievement. Do you see the difference?
Let’s use jealousy. When a woman is jealous of another woman’s marriage and she decides to “take” that man away from his wife, she has broken into their marriage and taken what does not belong to her. This can cause a world of grief for every individual involved. IF the woman had gone to God by faith and asked God for a breakthrough in her marital destiny, God would have provided and although marriage is a piece of work, it would have been an achievement for waiting on Him to provide the woman with a husband. The breakthrough is already yours! There is no need to take from others when God already has assigned promises to you and all you have to do is ASK! If you look back at the people from the Bible listed above, you will notice that they were not concerned with what was going on with other people around them. Their main concern was God and their personal breakthrough. If God showed up for them, He can and will show up for you. My prayer is that you continue to pray to God for your breakthrough and may God give you the strength in your waiting. Breakthrough is on the way, but you must use your faith.
Faith it until you make, Hope for the best, and Love God and yourself with every fiber of your being.
